Back to School 26/27

What a great verse to reflect on as we begin the year: we are created by God, with purpose, and for a purpose. Every student who enters our buildings is uniquely created and gifted by God. You are not an accident, nor defined by a grade, a test score, a mistake, or a comparison with someone else. You are God’s workmanship. He has given each of us gifts, abilities, interests, and opportunities that can be used to make a difference in the lives of others.

This year, I want to encourage our students to discover not only what they can achieve, but also who God is calling them to become. There will be times when learning is difficult, friendships are challenging, and you may wonder whether you are capable of doing what is being asked of you. When those moments come, reflect back on Ephesians 2:10. God has prepared good works for you. You have a purpose.

Keep in mind that those good works may not always look extraordinary. Most times they look like helping a classmate, making someone feel welcome, showing kindness, working hard when no one is watching, encouraging a friend, forgiving someone, or simply choosing to do what is right. The power of one small act of kindness can change a life forever.

Our school is a place where we learn, grow, and serve together, in all circumstances. My hope is that this year we will challenge one another to pursue excellence while growing into people of character, compassion, courage, and faith.
